Is Autism Caused by Vaccines?

No. Autism is not caused by vaccines.

This concern began in the late 1990s after a small study suggested a possible link between the MMR vaccine and autism. That study was later retracted due to serious flaws and ethical violations. Since then, large-scale research involving hundreds of thousands of children has repeatedly confirmed there is no scientific connection between vaccines and autism.

Autism is a neurodevelopmental condition that begins before birth. Current research shows it is primarily influenced by genetic and early developmental factors, not childhood immunizations.

Vaccines play a critical role in protecting children from serious illnesses like measles, polio, and whooping cough. Avoiding vaccines does not reduce the likelihood of autism, but it can increase health risks.

If you’re concerned about your child’s development, the most important step is early evaluation and support. Early intervention can significantly improve communication, behavior, and daily living skills.
